Book Covers

Sharon Lee  at her blog:
indicated that she has used a book cover from these folk:
for one of her new self published works.

It occurred to me that (a) maybe Thomas might be interested in these, and that, (b) yes, apparently I do pick  books by the cover, I can't wait to get "Your Title"

The Sci-Fi/Fantasy covers are at:

Sharon Lee along with Steve Miller are the authors of the Liaden Universe<R>  series of books, novellas, shorts, which I highly recommend.

Thanks for the information. Getting great cover artwork has always been my biggest problem. I had an artist who did many, great, custom covers for me (I especially love AGU-BP02), but he has dropped completely out of sight. I had hired him to do a new cover for me to replace an early cover, and he agreed, but then I never heard from him again. Everything was done by email so I've never met him. He never required a deposit of me so I wasn't out any money, but I really miss his great work. When I buy a custom cover, I insist that I get the copyright so I never see that cover on another book, although the artist is allowed to show the cover on their website and even sell copies, with the stipulation that the buyer agrees it cannot be used commercially. A lot of artists I've contacted reply that THEY own the copyright on everything they create and WILL NOT surrender it (which means they can sell it again at some point) so I thank them for their time and move on. I've only purchased one cover where I didn't get the copyright, and I've seen that cover on other books. It wasn't for one of my sci-fi books. Those covers are all custom, with four of them (the less artistic covers) having been made by me. I can't draw freehand worth a darn, but I'm pretty good with Photoshop manipulation.

Thanks again for the resource information.

Hi Thomas, did you look into hiring on any of the freelancing sites? I believe there are sites specialized in graphics design and all that. Maybe worth looking into.
